Planning your dream wedding in Calgary? Whether you’re envisioning a classic ceremony, a whimsical celebration surrounded by nature, or something entirely unique, Calgary has no shortage of breathtaking venues to make your special day unforgettable. From lush gardens to historic gems, here are six incredible Calgary wedding venues to consider:
1. Calgary Zoo: A Wedding with a Wild Twist
The Calgary Zoo has long been one of my favourite places in the city, so it’s no surprise it’s also one of the most unique wedding venues Calgary has to offer.
- Capacity: Host between 80-300 guests for a plated reception, depending on the space you choose.
- Venue Options: Choose from four distinct spaces, perfect for hosting either your ceremony, reception, or both. Keep in mind, there’s a per-person fee for ceremonies at the zoo.
- Transparency: Pricing and minimum food/beverage spends are clearly outlined on their website (hooray for no hidden surprises!).
- Photo Opportunities: With 125 acres of land, you’ll have plenty of beautiful (and fun!) locations for your portraits. My favorite is the conservatory, especially when the butterflies are there. Want animal-themed photos? Just plan it during the zoo’s opening hours!
- Catering: The zoo’s catering team is one of the largest in Calgary, ensuring exceptional dining experiences. Outside food and drink aren’t allowed (except wedding cakes), but trust me, you won’t miss it!
- Bonus for Guests: While you’re off taking photos, your guests can enjoy exploring the zoo during cocktail hour.

2. Waterfront Park: Riverfront Charm for Your Wedding Day
Nestled along the Loch McKinnon of Bow River, Waterfront Park offers serene views and versatile options for your wedding.
- Venue Spaces: With prices ranging from $4,000 to $9,000, Waterfront Park offers multiple spaces to accommodate your big day. The picturesque lawn and gazebo along the river are available for ceremonies at an additional $1,500.
- Decor Packages: Not a DIY bride or groom? No problem—select from their pre-designed decor packages for a stress-free experience.
- Photo Opportunities: The riverside lawn is stunning for photos. However, because multiple weddings can occur here at the same time, consider heading to nearby Baker Park for treelined pathways and beautiful river views.

3. Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant: Rustic Elegance in Fish Creek Park
Located in the heart of Fish Creek Park, the Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant combines rustic charm with gourmet dining for an unforgettable wedding experience.
- Outdoor Ceremonies: Host your ceremony on their picturesque front lawn. While this space offers a stunning outdoor backdrop, it’s good to note that the public will be able to watch.
- Exclusive Rentals: You can rent out the entire building for your wedding, ensuring complete privacy for you and your guests. This includes access to their cozy backyard space—perfect for enjoying the warmer months.
- Photo Spots: This area is a favorite among Calgary photographers year-round. Highlights include a charming red barn, scenic pathways, a river, and even “ice caves” during the winter.
- Gourmet Dining: Since it’s a restaurant, you can expect top-tier food. Even if turkey isn’t your favourite, their version is absolutely divine (I speak from experience).

4. Heritage Park: Vintage Vibes on 127 Acres
Step back in time with Heritage Park’s historic charm and expansive grounds.
- Venue Options: With multiple venues on-site, the park offers everything from intimate spaces to grand halls. Their event guide provides detailed information to help you choose the perfect spot.
- Unique Guest Experiences: Add a fun twist to your celebration by including private rides on the park’s steam train or exclusive access to midway rides and games. This is a fantastic way to entertain your guests!
- Scenic Backdrops: Whether you’re dreaming of floral gardens or water views, Heritage Park delivers plenty of options for stunning wedding photos.

5. Inn on Officers’ Garden: A Historic Gem
This Calgary wedding venue is perfect for couples seeking a blend of history and charm.
- Indoor & Outdoor Options: Host your ceremony outdoors by the gazebo or move indoors for a cozy, elegant setup during colder months. The reception space can be flipped during cocktail hour for seamless transitions.
- Delicious Catering: From mouthwatering chicken to a mashed potato bar, the food here never disappoints.
- Royal Touch: This historic venue once hosted Queen Elizabeth herself. Want a unique touch? You can stay in the very room she stayed in!
