Rain on your wedding day might not be what you envisioned, but at The Woven Willow, it turned into something truly magical. This couple embraced every single drop, making their day an unforgettable celebration filled with romance, laughter, and some seriously stunning rain-soaked portraits.

The Woven Willow Wedding: A Rainy Day to Remember
From the moment we arrived at The Woven Willow, it was clear that the weather had other plans. Rain poured down relentlessly, leaving no chance for an outdoor ceremony under clear skies. But thanks to the venue’s quick thinking, an elegant event tent was set up to keep the couple and their guests dry while still enjoying the beauty of the outdoor setting.

Despite the rain, the day’s energy was nothing short of joyful. The couple was determined to embrace it all, and their adventurous spirit made for some truly memorable and artistic portraits. Since we didn’t have another option, we went all in—venturing into the rain, letting the drops add texture and mood to their images. I used flash to highlight the raindrops, creating a cinematic, almost fairytale-like effect that made every moment look straight out of a dream.

Dancing in the Rain & Heartfelt Moments
One of the standout moments of the night was the bride’s dance with her dad. While it wasn’t the tear-jerking moment some might expect, it was full of smiles, laughter, and an undeniable sense of joy. Their dance was lighthearted and fun, setting the perfect tone for the rest of the evening. Even more special was that she also shared beautiful dances with her sons, making it a truly unforgettable family moment.

Reception Fun: The Shoe Game & Meaningful Wedding Favours
Once the formalities were over, the couple and their guests were ready to party. One of the highlights of the reception was the Shoe Game, a classic wedding tradition that had everyone laughing. The bride and groom sat back-to-back, each holding one of their own shoes and one of their partner’s. As questions were asked—like “Who is the better driver?” and “Who said ‘I love you’ first?”—they raised the shoe of the person they thought fit the answer best. The crowd erupted in laughter as their answers sometimes matched and sometimes didn’t, making for a hilarious and memorable moment.
A unique and thoughtful touch from this Woven Willow Wedding was the wedding favours the couple gifted to each guest. Each guest received a small piece of wood with the couple’s names and wedding date and a pair of cowboy boots burned into it. It was the perfect nod to their rustic and country-inspired wedding theme, giving everyone a keepsake to remember the day.
