Some weddings just have that extra bit of magic—the kind that makes you grin behind your camera all day long. Michaela and Dallas’ Fall Waterfront Park Wedding in Calgary was exactly that: a perfect mix of heartfelt moments, inside jokes, and a grandma who stole the show on the dance floor.
Getting Ready & The Details
From the moment I arrived, it was clear that Michaela and Dallas had infused their wedding with personal touches that reflected who they are. For starters, every guest received a tiny cardboard suitcase filled with custom M&M candies—an adorable nod to the couple’s love for travel. Each reception table was named after a place they had visited together, making it feel like a journey through their adventures.
While capturing Michaela’s flatlays, I couldn’t help but smile when she pulled out two little plush eggs dressed as a bride and groom. Yes, you read that right—egg-shaped stuffies, and they were so cute! Michaela wanted them to be part of her details, and honestly, I was all for it. It was one of those quirky, unique touches that made their day truly theirs.

Waterfront Park Wedding: Valleyview Terrace Ceremony
The couple tied the knot inside The Valleyview Terrace room, standing in front of the fireplace as they exchanged vows. The warm, intimate atmosphere was made even more special by a fun little secret: just days before the wedding, Robert Pattinson had been at this very venue. (Cue the Twilight fangirl moment between Michaela and me.)

Couples Portraits at Baker Park
After the ceremony, we made the quick five-minute drive to Baker Park for wedding party and couple’s portraits. The tree-lined pathway created the perfect backdrop, adding a dreamy, natural feel to the images. The vibrant fall colors made every shot pop, with golden leaves creating a warm and romantic atmosphere. With time slipping away, we quickly transitioned to couple’s portraits, making the most of the last moments before heading back to the venue. Those final shots? Absolute magic.

A Reception to Remember
Back at Waterfront Park, the reception kicked off with heartfelt speeches from the best man, maid of honor, and Michaela’s brother, who kept the energy high as MC. During the cake cutting, Dallas accidentally cut his finger, but a quick band-aid fix had him back on the dance floor in no time.
Their first dance was sweet and romantic, followed by Dallas dancing with his mom. Then, Michaela and her mom took the floor to Dancing Queen by ABBA, inviting everyone to join in. And that’s when the real party started.
Michaela’s grandma? Absolute legend. She strutted her way around the dance floor, walker in hand, even giving people rides in it. She had the entire room laughing and cheering her on—hands down, MVP of the night.

A Perfect Ending
As the night wrapped up, we gathered everyone for a final group shot in front of the fireplace. Guests took turns rapid-fire posing with the newlyweds before we got one last shot with the entire wedding party. It was the perfect way to end their Fall Waterfront Park Wedding, a day that had been filled with so much love, laughter, and little moments that made it uniquely Michaela and Dallas.
From start to finish, their wedding was a reflection of who they are: fun-loving, adventurous, and full of joy. Michaela and Dallas, it was an absolute honour to capture your day. Wishing you a lifetime of love, laughter, and many more travels together!
